SECRET WARS - ALL STAR BATTLE REPORT!

Last Friday we were invited by the V&A to host a Secret Wars battle / exhibition explaining the journey and evolution of this exciting and very unique concept.

This show was to run alongside the V&A "Fashion V Sport" (www.vam.ac.uk/fashionvsport).

Below are some images of the two days it took to set-up and the messy action packed party that followed...

The battle featured two teams - Jimi Crayon & Mr K vs. Teck 1 & Inkie

They went head to head for 90 mins and the eventual winner was decided by the crowd - who chose the right side of the wall (Inkie & Teck)...Congrats guys! you boys smashed it up with your casino inspired piece.

Noki - 'CUT THE BRAND'

In this workshop installation the public were encouraged to 'CUT THE BRAND' by picking a sports- branded t-shirt from stock provided by LMB recycling to then sissor cut it into shreds. These shreds was then be turned into the NOKI-NHS-DNA-YARN by the masked NHS (Noki’s House of Sustainability) team and rolled into a enormous ball of yarn. This new ball of yarn will represent change, regeneration and sustainable transformation and will then be used to create ONE-OFF pieces Noki’s collection for fashion week.

Noki
The art brand of Noki customisation is a statement against mass produced fashion branding where the mere taking, DIY style of a second hand garment and reworking it into an ethical ‘one-off’ piece of clothing, creates the Noki art. This alone is paralleling the original essence of couture fashion. The full Noki silhouette involved the Noki Rock Frock and the SOB – Suffocation of Branding mask. This has become known as the uniform of the Nokiette.

LMB recycling
On an average week LMB, a family business, collects 170 to 200 tonnes of textiles, clothing and shoes. 80 per cent will be sorted and exported for reuse, 10 per cent that isn't fit for reuse will be cut into wiping cloths, 5 per cent will be sent for flocking and felting, leaving a minimal 5 per cent waste, incorporating household rubbish, hangers and single shoes.
